Basic clinical research training based on systematic review technique

Every medical researcher should be able to make a Systematic Review – or at least be able to read and critically assess one – this course will commence in the work of developing a Systematic Review. A basic approach to clinical research is built on the fact that the researcher knows how to use and relate to existing evidence. The use of evidence requires substantial knowledge of the different concepts and methods of clinical research.

The Systematic Review is used in all fields of clinical research, including guidelines, publications and best evidence-based practice and as background knowledge for large clinical experiments. Through the course, the participants will formulate a protocol for a Systematic Review which will be presented on the last day. The participants will throughout the lectures and by working with and discussing the Systematic Review establish a basic knowledge of clinical research methods. The aim for the participant is to learn how to extract and use the established evidence, as well as to get basic competences for participating in clinical research groups (under supervision).
